He studied under the legendary Creole fiddler Canray Fontenot.

He wrote a 2009 method book designed to introduce the public to masters of Louisiana Creole fiddle music.

Family Life

His grandfather D'Jalma Thomas Garnier was said to have taught the great Louis Armstrong. His brother was Bob Dylan's bandleader and also worked as bass player for the Neverending Tour Band.
