American author and motivational speaker who wrote The Fall of Freddie the Leaf (1982) and worked in the Department of Special Education at the University of Southern California. He is also known as Dr. Love.

He served in the United States Navy before earning three degrees at the University of Southern California and later becoming a professor. He published his first book, Love, in 1972.
