Satirical cartoon artist who was a leading figure in the underground comix movement. He was particularly known for his political and satirical work and for his character Snappy Sammy Smoot.

Before Fame

He published his first cartoon in HELP! magazine in 1961, one of Harvey Kurtzman's publications, the editor of which was Gloria Steinem. He gained national recognition for this cartoon after it was heralded on "The Tonight Show" by comedian Dick Gregory.
