Italian novelist and screenwriter who has published nearly a dozen books, but is best known for his novel White As Milk, Red As Blood. He wrote the screen adaptation of the same name, released in 2013. As of January 2018, he writes a weekly column for historic Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera called Beds To Be Redone.
He graduated in classical letters from Sapienza University in Rome. He received his PHD in 2004. In 2006 he completed his master's degree in film at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan.
He teaches letters at the San Carlo College in Milan.
His parents are Joseph and Rita D'Avenia. He is the third of six children.
