He relocated to Paris in 1946 where he became a member of Jean-Claude Fohrenbach's combo and served as an ensemble-organizing point-man for visiting U.S. jazz performers.

Family Life

His family noticed his musical proclivities while he was young, and he began taking violin lessons at the age of five. However, he took up the piano three years later.
