She was asked to sing the role of Zerbinetta in a 1916 Vienna production of Ariadne auf Naxos by the opera's composer, Richard Strauss.
She divorced operatic tenor Karl Erb in 1932 and married pianist Michael Raucheisen the following year.
She was known particularly for her interpretations of the operatic works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and played leading roles in such Mozart operas as Così fan tutte and Le nozze di Figaro.
