Better known by his professional name of Rigby, this cartoonist and illustrator is remembered for his Walkley Award-winning political cartoons (published in the Daily News of Perth, Western Australia), as well as for his New York Press Club Award-winning work for the New York Post.
After fighting in Europe and North Africa during World War II as a member of the Royal Australian Air Force, he began his artistic career as an illustrator for a Perth newspaper called The West Australian.
In most of his cartoons, he included tiny signature images of a little boy and a dog.
In the last years of his life, he settled in Busselton, Western Australia with his wife.
He and his contemporary and fellow Australian artist, Jeff Hook, both had successful careers as political cartoonists.
