Before fame

He began his music career in 1971 with his younger brother Matheus and formed the duo Papagaio e Periquito. He and Matheus as a duo gained regional popularity and recorded three albums between 1973 and 1982. He prepared for a solo career after the duo ended in 1982 and adopted the stage name Sandro Lúcio. He launched his solo career and released his first album Camisola Branca in 1984. He experienced a resurgence in 2000 with the album Laço Aberto and followed this with the album Dessa Vez in 2004. He continued releasing music in the streaming era with projects such as Autoral in 2021, Seresta in 2023, and Rachando Aluguel also in 2023.

Trivia

He won his first gold record in 1987 after appearing on the television program Clube do Bolinha. He made more than 20 appearances on Clube do Bolinha. He recorded his first official DVD in 2007 in Itamaraju, Bahia, in front of a large crowd. He has released more than 30 projects across his career.

Family life

His real name is Manoel Rocha da Silva. He was born in Espírito Santo, Brazil before moving with his family to Mato Grosso, Brazil where he spent much of his childhood. He is the eldest child of Sidelina da Silva Rocha and José Cândido da Rocha and grew up in a large family with multiple siblings.
