Curator and writer who is known for being the Chief Curator of Media and Performance Art at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He is most recognized for being the co-curator of the 2014 Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
He earned his Bachelors degree in art history from Carleton College in Minnesota. He then earned his Masters in curatorial studies from the Royal College of Art in London. His career as a curator first began when he started working as a book buyer for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
He is known for having been the first Curator of Film at the Tate Modern in London.
He was born and raised in Minnesota but later moved to London and New York City to pursue his career in curation.
His work as a curator at the Tate Modern allowed him to do a show on Nan Goldin in 2012.
