Russian sculptor and artist known for his heroic monuments. His famous pieces include Mother Motherland (displayed in Kiev) and Let Us Beat Swords into Plowshares (in Volgograd).
He grew up in what is now Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine.
He created most of his works in an allegoric style.
His father Viktor was Serbian and his mother Anna was Russian and French.
He and Mihail Chemiakin were both twentieth-century Russian artists.
