Multi-genre musician and music producer who received a Top R&B Album Billboard Music Award for singer Beyonce's 2011 album, 4, and earned a R&B/Hip Hop Award at the ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Awards.
He studied voice, piano, and drums as a child and won several prestigious music awards while attending Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
He attended Cedar Valley College, where he later became an adjunct professor of Jazz Studies.
His mother was a singer with the band, Soul Liberation, and his father belonged to a 1990s pop and R&B group called the Mac Band.
He received, in addition to a Billboard Music Award, a nomination for an NAACP Image Award for his collaboration with Beyonce Knowles on the song, "Best Thing I Never Had."
