About
Italian-born diver, shark ecologist, cave explorer, and conservationist best known for her work with Caribbean reef sharks. Her close work with them in the wild has greatly helped to shift the public perception of sharks as a whole. She also founded the non-profit organization People of the Water, which is aimed at promoting both ocean and water literacy.
Before Fame
She spent part of her childhood in the rainforest and savannah regions of Congo, which inspired her love for nature and wild animals at a young age. Around the year 1994, she travelled to the Bahamas, where she learned how to scuba dive and later decided to move there fulltime and launch her professional diving career.
Trivia
She speaks five languages including Italian, English, German, French, and Spanish. She has earned the nickname "Shark Whisperer" due to her ability to gain trust with the creatures.
Family Life
She and her husband work together in cave exploration and diving. Her father was a military diver for the special forces.
