He performed on stage in numerous productions growing up in Salt Lake City. This is where he developed an interest in makeup artistry. He became an assistant for Salt Lake City Opera's make-up designer and wig master.
His work had been published in Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Vanity Fair and multiple other publications.
He had a sister named Johanna Bailey. It was believed that he was found dead due to an apparent suicide from carbon monoxide poisoning.
He would collaborate with several top photographers in the industry, including David LaChapelle.
