Before fame
He attended Envision Academy before transferring to San Leandro High School where he developed into a college-level basketball prospect. He began his collegiate career at San Diego State University in 2019. He helped lead the Arizona Aztecs to the Final Four and national championship game during the 2022-23 season. He transferred to the University of Arizona for the 2023-24 season where he had a breakout year. He went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft but quickly signed a two-way contract with the Miami Heat in July 2024 before earning a standard NBA contract later that year while also playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBA G League.

He earned Pac-12 All-Defensive Team Honorable Mention and was named a semifinalist for the Karl Malone Award during the 2023-24 season at Arizona. He won the 2026 NBA Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend.
