She initially pursued rhythmic gymnastics as a child before transitioning into competitive dance when she was around 12 years old. She trained extensively in studio dance. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and earned a bachelor's degree in dance. She focused on ballet and modern styles during college and spent all four years performing with UCSB's self-coached dance team. She went viral during her rookie season when a kickoff ball hit her on the sideline. She handled this with grace and humor by sharing a handwritten apology note from the kicker. she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority in college.
