Before fame

He began making music when he was 16. He originally worked as a designer before he began pursuing music as a career. He left New Zealand in 2005 for a bigger music scene and moved to Australia and began releasing music in 2009.

He won the 2014 New Zealand Music Award in the Electronic category for his album Meraki and was a finalist in the same category in 2016 for his album Omniversal. He is 95% deaf in his left ear after having multiple surgeries to remove cysts from behind the eardrum. His early music taste was inspired by the B52's.

Family life

His real name given to him by his parents is Oscar Davey-Wraight and he grew up in Ngatimoti near Motueka, New Zealand.
