Before fame

She was homeschooled until high school and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in communication studies from California State University, Long Beach. She earned an English teaching credential and paid for college by working as an actress and model. She co-authored the textbook Public Speaking: Preparation and Presentation in a Digital World before launching Beauty Professor in January 2012.

Trivia

She has taught communication studies at Golden West College. She created a three-shade lipstick collection with Christian Audette in November 2018 and launched her Girlactik Ready in 7 makeup kit in June 2023. She conceptualized Académie Hair in 2023 and officially launched the luxury haircare brand in September 2025.

Family life

Her full name is Rachel Anise Wegter. She is a mother to a daughter named Joey. Her mother Laura has helped with Beauty Professor's photography and business operations.
