Irish runner who won a gold medal in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne for the 1,500 meters and also won bronze in the 1958 World Championships, also at 1,500 meters.
He attended private school at Catholic University School and studied economics at Villanova University.
He competed in the 1960 Olympics in the 800 meters and finished sixth in his quarterfinal.
He was born into a wealthy family in Arklow, Ireland.
