About

Korean-born artist and filmmaker who became famous as a children's picture book illustrator. Her books include Wild Ideas, Is This Panama? Sukaq and the Raven, You Are Never Alone, A Last Goodbye, Once Upon an Hour, and When Sunlight Tiptoes. She has been producing independent films since 1993, as well as working on advertising projects. 

Before Fame

She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Education from York University. 

Trivia

In 2017, she was invited to the Adelaide Writers' Week in Australia. She is also a recipient of the Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon Illustrator's Award. She has participated in artist residencies at The Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Spark Box Studios in Picton, Ontario. 

Family Life

She and her partner Todd Hemker launched a design and animation company called Yellowshed.
