Before fame

She pursued a traditional medical education before becoming a public health communicator and digital health leader. She attended Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University) where she earned her medical degree. She completed her internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. She then specialized in allergy and immunology through a fellowship at NYU Winthrop Hospital. Her transition into digital health began when she joined Doctor On Demand in 2014 as a physician and eventually as a medical director. She began appearing regularly on national television as a medical contributor around 2016.  Her media presence expanded to additional programs including CBS This Morning, Today, and Rachael Ray in the late 2010s. She appeared even more frequently on television during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trivia

Her research project studying the role of IL-33 in cholesterol transport and inflammation earned the Von Pirquet Award from the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. She has been recognized for her work in healthcare innovation including being named to MM+M's Top 40 Healthcare Transformers list. She has mentored students in Stanford University's Clinical Informatics Management program.
