Trivia

From July 1 to 3, 1863, he was a new corps commander at the Battle of Gettysburg. He is buried at the Montgomery Cemetery, West Norriton, PA. He served in both the Spanish-American War and the American Civil War, serving as a Union General in the latter.

He has an identical twin brother named Hilary Baker Hancock. He was married to Almira Russell from 1850 to 1886. They have two children, Russell Hancock and Ada Elizabeth Hancock.

His last public service involved the oversight of President Ulysses S. Grant's funeral procession in 1885.
