Before fame
He performed as the lead singer of the teenage band Tomorrow's Gone which was eventually renamed Fear of Waking. He stepped away from entertainment when he was 21 years old to serve in the United States Army and eventually completed police academy training. He founded ZRS Productions and began acting in 2015 after being cast as a featured extra in I Am Wrath.

He co-hosted the WUDG radio program The Biz and began learning to DJ in late 2018 before becoming a professional touring DJ in March 2021. He has performed DJ sets at Netflix premieres, professional football events, and the 2023 Red Bull Flugtag. He has been a signed DJ with Fleet DJ's.
Family life
He was born in Evansville, Indiana, and spent his early childhood in Los Angeles before moving to Columbus, Ohio, in 1997. He created The Zayne & Carlee Project with his wife Carlee Atkins. He is a father of three children.
