Billionaire who, upon purchasing the Anaheim Angels baseball organization from the Walt Disney Company in 2003, became the first Mexican-American to own a major U.S. professional sports team. He purchased the team after selling his company Outdoor Systems to Infinity Broadcasting for $8 billion in 1996.
He was born in Tucson, Arizona and fought in the Vietnam War after graduating from high school. He earned a Marketing degree from the University of Arizona in 1985.
He received heavy criticism from many Angels fans as well as Anaheim city officials for his decision to rename the team the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2005.
He is the eldest of 11 children born to Mary and Arturo Ricardo Moreno. He has been married twice and has children named Bryan, Rico and Nikki.
He and actor Gene Autry have both owned the Angels franchise.
