Billie Jean Moore

About

American college basketball coach who was the first head coach in women's college basketball history to lead two different schools to national championships. She also coached the first United States women's national basketball team to compete in the Olympics. She achieved an overall college coaching record was 436-196. 

Before Fame

She began her career as an assistant coach at Southern Illinois University, while she was doing her master's degree.

Trivia

She was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999. In 2002, she received the Naismith's Women's Outstanding Contribution Award.

Family Life

She was born in Humansville, Missouri and grew up in Kansas. Her father was a high school principal.

She coached Lusia Harris and Nancy Lieberman on the 1975 Pan American Games team.
