Before fame
He developed an early love for music during long car rides to swim meets listening to artists like Shania Twain and Joe Cocker. He began taking piano lessons in elementary school. He eventually earned drums and started playing in a band during high school at Jindabyne Central School. He was performing cover songs in local pubs when he was 14 years old, and by 15 years old he had begun writing his own country music. He worked in rural and labor-based jobs after graduating high school including time on a cattle farm in the Northern Territory while continuing to perform at night. His big break came in 2018 when he won the Toyota Star Maker competition which led to the release of his debut album Brad Cox later that year. He signed with Sony Music Australia in August 2019. He signed with Warner Music Australia and released "Everything I've Got" in 2024.

His third album Acres reached No. 7 on the ARIA Albums Chart, earned an ARIA Award nomination, and won multiple honors at the 2024 Golden Guitar Awards including Male Artist of the Year and Contemporary Country Album of the Year. He has been known for writing and recording music while living on a rural property in Queensland, Australia.

He was born and raised in Jindabyne, New South Wales, Australia. He grew up in a family where both of his parents were swimming coaches.
