Jazz musician who worked with numerous legendary artists, including Freddie Hubbard, Jackie McLean, George Coleman, and Phil Woods.
He attended William Patterson University and would later accept a faculty position at The Julliard School in 2001.
He first met bassist Christian McBride when he was working with the Benny Green Trio, leading to a long-standing collaboration.
His parents raised him on gospel, R&B, and funk, but it was one of Benny Carter's LPs that turned him on to jazz.
He was influenced by Duke Ellington.
