British painter, art teacher, author, and television art presenter known for his step-by-step landscape and architecture painting instruction in watercolor, acrylic, and watercolor pencils. He is also known for his YouTube channel where he focuses on step-by-step painting tutorials and creative demos, shares artwork, workshop insights, and teaching clips with over 50,000 subscribers.

Before fame

He studied at Lincoln College of Art, but early in his career he supported himself through work in catering before serving in the Royal Air Force. He continued to paint and develop his skills during this time period. His first major breakthrough came when he was commissioned by the National Coal Board to paint a series of watercolors depicting pits and pit villages in the early 1980s, which led to his first solo exhibition in 1983. He began making short painting segments for Tyne Tees Television in 1983. His art programs were picked up for wider broadcast on the Discovery Channel in the mid-to-late 1990s.

He is a dog owner.
