German convicted murderer known for the 2008 killing of British student Matthew Pyke in Nottingham, England. He is especially known because the case became widely covered as Heiss had met Pyke and Pyke's girlfriend Joanna Witton through an online fan community for the Nintendo strategy game Advance Wars.
Before fame
He worked as an office worker and was active on the Advance Wars fan website WarsCentral.com and met Matthew Pyke and Joanna Witton through the online gaming community in 2007. He traveled from Germany to Nottingham in September 2008 and killed Matthew Pyke after developing an obsession with Joanna Witton. He was extradited from Germany to the United Kingdom and was convicted of murder at Nottingham Crown Court in 2009.
