Writer who first rose to fame competing on MTV's Wanna Be a VJ series in 1998. From there, he worked as a celebrity interviewer and hosted a number of shows on the network before moving on to cohost Live Earth with Karen Duffy. He has also hosted the podcast A Drink With Dave and the quiz show International Waters.

Before Fame

Prior to his career on MTV, he studied at the College of the Holy Cross and worked at the campus radio station and interned at Worcester, Massachusetts' public access television station.


After becoming a columnist for Esquire, he later released the June 2016 memoir Party of One through Penguin Random House.

Family Life

He grew up in St. Louis alongside his parents, Charles and Mary Lou, and his two older brothers, Dan and Steve. In 2002, he came out publicly as gay in Out Magazine.
