Internet famous American rescue cat also known as Doby the Housecat and known for his cleft nose which gives him the appearance of having "two noses" and his mild cerebellar hypoplasia which is a neurological condition that causes a gentle wobble. He became widely known through his Instagram account @dobythehousecat where his rescue story and daily life helped raise awareness for special-needs animals and became better known after being featured by The Dodo in 2018.
Before fame
He was discovered as a kitten with visible facial differences including a cleft nose which initially raised concerns about his long-term health. He was taken into care by the well-known California cat sanctuary The Cat House on the Kings. He was evaluated by veterinarians who determined that he had mild cerebellar hypoplasia. He spent time living in a rescue environment while staff monitored his health and behavior. He was then transferred through Friends for Life Rescue Network with the help of rescuer Jacqueline Santiago.
Trivia
His version of cerebellar hypoplasia does not hurt him it just gives him a visible wobble. He was adopted into his forever home in October 2017. His owner started posting content of him on Instagram in late 2017 and his Internet and Instagram presence was significantly boosted after being featured by The Dodo in June 2018.
Family life
He was born in California. He was adopted by his owner and caregiver Jeanne in October 2017. He lives in a multi-cat household and is often shown interacting with other rescued cats.
