Republican politician who became the U.S. Representative for California's 1st congressional district in 2013.
He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business and went on to manage the family farming business originally founded by his great-grandfather in 1931.
He served in the California State Senate, representing the 4th district, from 2010 to 2012, where he opposed a bill that would require history teachers in all California public schools to teach history of homosexuality and gay civil rights.
He has four children with his wife Jill.
He was in the California Assembly while Arnold Schwarzenegger was Governor.
