Catholic saint who became famous for healing miracles attributed to her. Many of her miracles involve healing of the sick, often of incurable diseases.
Before Fame
She stated that she first felt a calling to the religious life while she attended the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the age of seven. In 1926 she joined a convent in Lodz after having a vision where Jesus spoke to her.
Trivia
Throughout her life she reported having visions of Jesus and conversations with him. She wrote down these conversations, and they were published after her death. She has a major shrine called Basilica of Divine Mercy located in Kraków, Poland.
Family Life
She was the third of ten children of Stanisław Kowalski and Marianna Kowalska. Her father was a carpenter and a peasant, and the family was poor and religious.
Associated With
She was canonized by Pope John Paul II.
