He debuted in 1958, and in 1968 he won the NWA Texas Heavyweight Championship, after defeating The Spoiler.
He worked in an oilfield when he first started wrestling, and slowly transition to professional wrestling.
After his wrestling career ended, he became a wrestling promoter.
He was married three times and had four children, three of which grew up to become professional wrestlers.
Very early in his career he challenged Freddie Blassie for the NWA Georgia World Heavyweight Championship, but lost.
