Grzegorz Braun

About

Polish politician, documentary filmmaker, and YouTube personality known for his ultraconservative political views and controversial public actions along with having served as a Member of the Polish Sejm from 2019 to 2024. He is also known for being a Member of the European Parliament, for being associated with the political movement Konfederacja Korony Polskiej, and for running a YouTube channel GrzegorzBraunTV where he posts speeches, interviews, and political commentary for over 250,000 subscribers. 

Before fame

He studied at the University of Wrocław and graduated in 1987. He completed postgraduate studies in 1993 at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television at the University of Silesia. He participated in anti-communist student activism in the 1980s. He started releasing documentary projects in the mid-2000s. He released a film in 2005 alleging that former Solidarity leader and Polish president Lech Walesa had collaborated with communist-era security services. He continued making political documentaries and eventually pursued political office. He was elected and joined the Polish Sejm in 2019. 

Trivia

He caused international controversy in December 2023 when he interrupted a Hanukkah ceremony inside Poland's parliament by using a fire extinguisher to put out a lit menorah. He then became one of the most talked about Polish politicians in the aftermath of this incident.

Family life

He was born and raised in Toruń, Poland. He married Aleksandra Braun and they have three children together.
