Famous as a self-taught flautist, Ball is known for such Native American Music Award and Indian Summer Music Award-winning albums as, respectively, Cedar Moon (2001) and The Shape of Light (2007).
He discovered his love of flute playing while attending a 1991 Powwow in Baltimore, Maryland. Six years later, he signed with the Colorado-based Red Feather Music label.
He released his tenth album, Ghost Town, in early 2009.
He and his bass guitarist brother, Randy Ball, frequently toured together.
He and country singer Ricky Lynn Gregg are both notable Native American musicians.
