Former motocross racer known for his rivalry with fellow rider Jeremy McGrath in the 1990s, when they were two of the best in the sport. He retired in 2000 after suffering a crushed vertebra and compound leg fracture following a crash.
He first rose to prominence in the sport in 1992 when he won the 125 National Motocross Championship and Motocross des Nations Championship.
He won a total of 36 races and four titles between 1992 and 1998, including consecutive 250 National Championships in 1996 and 1997.
He married Jennifer Emig and is a Motorcycle Hall of Famer.
He and Rickey Carmichael, considered by some to be the best ever in the sport, have both won Motocross Des Nations titles for the US.
