Winner of eight PGA Tour events and 20 Champions Tour events. His best major finish came in 1971 when he tied for third place at the U.S. Open.
He played golf at Kansas State University, finishing second in the NCAA golf championships in his junior year, 1964.
He helped design the Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kansas, considered to be one of the best golf courses in the state.
His family helped him get through prostate cancer.
He won the 1974 American Golf Classic in a playoff with Gay Brewer and two others.
