NASCAR veteran made over 500 stars and was named 1989 Busch Series Rookie of the Year.
He began working as a mechanic for his father's race cars, then won the first race he entered, the Illinois Street Stock State Championship.
In addition to his on-track accomplishments, he joined the SPEED TV network as an on-air personality, appearing on NASCAR RaceDay and NASCAR Victory Lane.
He had three daughters with his wife Kim.
His older brother Rusty Wallace was the better known NASCAR racer, winning the 1989 NASCAR Winston Cup Series and 55 races total.
