About

Member of the prominent Von Erich wrestling family, he was a WWF Intercontinental Champion. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He committed suicide at the young age of 33. He was played by Jeremy Allen White in the 2023 film, The Iron Claw.

Before Fame

He began wrestling in his father's NWA Texas promotion, holding many of its Tag Team titles, and then moved to the WCW. 

Trivia

His later wrestling career took a darker turn, as a motorcycle accident badly injured his foot, which eventually had to be amputated; he got addicted to painkillers as a result. 

Family Life

His father was the legendary wrestler Fritz Von Erich, and his four brothers, David, Kevin, Mike, and Chris, all followed in their father's footsteps. He was married to Catherine Murray from 1983 to 1992, and had two daughters, Hollie Brook and professional wrestler Lacey Von Erich.

Associated With

One of the highlights of his wrestling career came in the defeat of Ric Flair to claim the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in front of 45,000 fans in Texas Stadium.
