Before Fame
He discovered music when he was 10 years old after he received a beat pad for Christmas and began producing songs in his parents' garage. He attended a predominantly white Catholic high school but felt disconnected from the environment and ultimately dropped out at 14 to pursue music full-time. Trivia
His stage name KOAD comes from his love of koalas, and he features a stuffed koala named Benjamin in his content. He speaks very little Hindi despite referencing Bollywood in multiple of his songs. He often directs his own music videos and creates the concepts himself.

His real name is Ajay Dodani. He was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, California to Indian immigrant parents. He has a brother named Amit who has helped him with his music.
