Journalist, historian, and bestselling author known for her New York Times bestselling book Code Girls, Michelle: A Biography, The Richer Sex, and The Sisterhood: The Secret History of Women at the CIA. She is also known for previously working as a longtime reporter and feature writer for The Washington Post, and her writing has appeared in The Atlantic, Politico, The New York Times, Slate, and Smithsonian.

Before Fame

She attended North Cross School before earning her A.B. from Princeton University in 1982. She then received her M.A. in English Literature from the University of Virginia. She joined The Washington Post Magazine as a feature writer. She released her first major book Everything Conceivable in 2007.  She released her hit bestselling book Code Girls in 2017.

Trivia

Her book Code Girls was named one of Smithsonian's 10 Best Science Books of 2017 and won the AFIO award for Best Intelligence Book. She is a former senior fellow at the think tank New America.

Family Life

She grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. She has two children. She married Bill Nye the Science Guy in 2022.
