Former record-setting quarterback at the University of Texas who joined the team as an assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach in 2011. He then joined the University of Houston as the offensive coordinator in 2015 and was promoted to head coach in 2016.
He led his UT team to victory over the #7 Nebraska Cornhuskers, snapping their run of 47 straight home victories.
After graduating from UT, he came back to the team as a graduate assistant coach for Mack Brown.
He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He married Julie Applewhite in 2005 and has a daughter named Lila.
He played at UT behind Chris Simms, son of the New York Giants legend Phil Simms.
