Michael Cavanagh

Australian drummer best known as the drummer for the psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, of which he is also a founding member. He has also released solo music under the pseudonym CAVS, inspired by his nickname, "Cavs," within the band. 

Before fame

He developed an early interest in drumming while growing up in Deniliquin, Australia. He performed in a number of bands throughout his teenage years before joining King Gizzard and helping to develop the band as a founding member.

Trivia

He was nominated for Best Live Drummer at the 2023 National Live Music Awards. As a part of King Gizzard, he has also received honors from numerous awarding bodies including the Music Victoria Awards, the ARIA Music Awards, and the AIR Awards.

Family life

He married Amy Findlay, who is the drummer for the band Stonefield.

Associated with

He and frontman Stu MacKenzie are both members of the psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. He has collaborated with numerous artists including fellow drummer Jay Watson of the psychedelic music project Tame Impala.
