Before Fame

Growing up, her parents helped her book local gigs in Sedona, Arizona. Her first independent album was Broken Bracelet.


She won a Grammy Award with Carlos Santana in 2003 for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for her song, "Game of Love."

Family Life

She was married to her bass player Teddy Landau from 2004 to 2015; they had a daughter named Owen together. She began dating Patrick Carney of The Black Keys in 2015, and they got engaged in 2017.
