In 2006, this Northern Irish scrum half began his career with the Ulster Rugby team. In addition, he played on the national level for the Wolfhounds (from 2008 to 2013); Ireland (in 2013); and Emerging Ireland (in 2014).
He received his athletic training at the Ulster Academy and went on to attend Methodist College Belfast.
Early in his career, he captained Ulster's Under-21 rugby team.
Born into a devout Christian family, he spent his youth in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. He and his wife Miriam wed in 2012. They have a daughter named Eleanor and a son named Luke.
He is a contemporary of fellow Ulster Rugby player Rory Best.
