Italian professional midfielder for Livorno who died after suffering a cardiac arrest during a 2012 match against Pescara. In the days following his death, the Curva Sud of Atalanta's home stadium was renamed Curva Piermario Morosini in his honor, and the award for the best player in the Campionato Primavera was also named after him.
Before fame
He began his career at his hometown club, Atalanta. He made his Serie A debut in October 2005 and went on to make five appearances in the league.
Trivia
He represented Italy at the U-17 level beginning in 2001 and made his U-21 debut in 2006, later serving as a backup at the 2009 European Under-21 Championship.
Family life
He faced major family tragedies early in life, losing his mother in 2001, his father in 2003, and later his brother. He was left alone with his disabled elder sister.
