About
French baker, chef, author, and culinary educator best known for his work in artisan baking as well as his advocacy for "real bread," bread made with only a few ingredients using time-tested methods. In 2005, he established The Bertinet Kitchen, a cookery school where he teaches students about bread-making, pastry, and other culinary topics.
Before Fame
He started training as a baker when he was only 14 years old. After relocating to the United Kingdom in the late 1980s, he found employment with several hotels and restaurants including the Chewton Glen Hotel. In 2000, he established his own consultancy called the Dough Co.
Trivia
In 2010, he was declared BBC Food Champion of the Year. He has also received numerous honors for his original written works. His book Dough has received honors such as the title of IACP Best Cookbook of the Year in 2006. The title has also earned the Julia Child Award for Best First Book and a James Beard Award for Best Book (in the baking & desserts category).

He co-founded The Bertinet Kitchen with his wife, Jo Bertinet.
