She met Whitney Houston in 1980 while both were summer camp counselors in East Orange, New Jersey. She stopped her schooling to help Whitney pursue a career in entertainment.

She would go on to become a creative assistant to Whitney Houston throughout her music and acting career, earning credits for her work as an assistant on the 1992 film The Bodyguard and 1995's Waiting to Exhale. She appeared in the critically acclaimed 2018 documentary Whitney.
