Before fame
He originally focused more on basketball than on football during his teenage years. He returned to Australian rules football around 2012 when he was 19 years old after playing amateur football with friends. He was quickly noticed by recruiters while playing for Swan Districts (WAFL) in 2013. He impressed scouts with his athleticism and mobility for his size including strong performances at the 2013 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. He was selected by Greater Western Sydney in the 2013 AFL Draft and made his AFL debut in 2014 and played for Greater Western Sydney until he began playing for the Fremantle Dockers in 2019. He was traded to the Western Bulldogs at the end of the 2022 season and transitioned into a defensive role in late 2024.
