American singer who was best known as the lead member of the group Ruby & The Romantics in the 1960s and had a #1 single with the song "Our Day Will Come."
She started singing when she was a senior in high school and joined The Supremes in 1961 before they got a recording contract with Kapp Records and changed their name to Ruby & The Romantics.
She was given a Pioneer Award by the Rhythm and Blues Foundation in 1997 for her work with Ruby & The Romantics.
She grew up with family in Akron, Ohio.
